Bonjour chers visiteurs ! // Hello dear visitors!
Je suis enfin de retour en Grande-Bretagne après quinze jours intensifs en (petite!) Bretagne. Avant de me plonger totalement dans mon travail sur le tome 2 de ma trilogie, voici quelques photos des moments marquants de mon dernier séjour en France. // I’m
finally back to Britain after two intensive weeks in (small) Britain – or Brittany.
Before
immersing myself completely in my work on volume 2 of my trilogy, here are some
pictures of the highlights of my lastest stay in France.
1- Dédicace au tout nouveau et luxueux Espace Culturel Leclerc de Saint-Grégoire. Il n'était ouvert que depuis trois semaines et j'ai eu l'honneur d'être son premier auteur en signature. Malgré le très beau temps (probablement notre seule journée de soleil cet été!) qui fit qu'il n'y eut pas beaucoup de visiteurs, ceux que j'ai rencontrés étaient des gens adorables et intéressants. J'ai même gardé contact avec certains ! :-) // Book signing
at the brand new and luxurious Leclerc Cultural Center in Saint-Grégoire. It
had only been open for three weeks and I had the honour of being its first
author in signature. Despite
the great weather (probably our only day of sunshine this summer), which meant there
were not many visitors, the ones I met were lovely and interesting people. I have even kept in touch with
some of them! :-)

2- Le lendemain, sous une pluie torrentielle, le Salon du livre de Vannes, dans les sompteux jardins du château. Une occasion formidable malgré le temps épouvantable (vent, pluie, boue et froid). J'ai pu y faire des rencontres enrichissantes et ai été enchantée de participer à une table ronde avec trois autres écrivains, sur le thème de "Bretagne, histoire et légendes". // The
next day, in torrential rain, the Vannes Book Festival, in the sumptuous
gardens of the town's castle. A
tremendous occasion for me despite the terrible weather (wind, rain, mud and
cold). I met great people and enjoyed being invited to take part in a roundtable discussion with three other writers on the theme of
"Brittany, history and legends."

3- Après un court repos, j'ai eu le grand bonheur d'aller rendre visite à mon institutrice préférée, Mme Renoul (ce nom rappelle-t-il quelque chose aux lecteurs de mon livre?). C'est elle qui m'inspira le désir d'écrire quand j'avais huit ans. Je l'ai retrouvée aussi pétillante et charmante qu'il y a presque quarante ans! // After a short rest, I had the great pleasure of visiting my favorite primary school teacher, Mme Renoul (is this name familiar to the readers of my book?). She inspired my desire to write when I was eight. I found her as bubbly and charming as she was almost forty years ago!

4- Plus tard dans la semaine, j'ai été honorée et ravie d'apprendre que le tout nouveau groupe de lecture de la très ancienne et prestigieuse Maison Internationale des Poètes et des Écrivains de Saint-Malo (toujours sous l'égide de sa fondatrice, Mme Dodik Jégou) avait choisi mon roman comme première lecture. Meeting très agréable et prometteur avec les responsables. Rendez-vous à Noël avec le groupe pour notre rencontre officielle ! // Later
on that week I was honoured and thrilled to learn that the brand new book group of the very old and prestigious
"International House of Poets and Writers" in Saint-Malo
(still under the aegis of its founder, Mme Dodik Jégou) had chosen my novel as their
first read. Very nice and promising encounter with the
women in charge. Looking forward to
my official meeting with the group at Christmas!
5- Et enfin, ce qui couronna le tout pour moi fut une dédicace à la librairie Vitréenne de Vitré, une expérience particulièrement merveilleuse grâce à ses extraordinaires propriétaires, M. et Mme Broggi. Tous les ingrédients y étaient: une ambiance chaleureuse et détendue; une librairie joyeuse et passionnément livresque; beaucoup de visiteurs de différentes générations et des rencontres de qualité... J'en suis repartie fatiguée, touchée et heureuse. (Je ne verrai plus jamais le prénom de Marwen de la même façon -- voir photo ci-dessous!) // And
finally, what crowned it all for me was a wonderful signing at the Librarie Vitréenne in Vitré, thanks mainly to its extraordinary owners, M. and Mme Broggi. All the ingredients were there: a warm and relaxed atmosphere; a joyful and passionately bookish shop; many
visitors of all generations and quality encounters... I came away exhausted, moved and happy. (The name "Marwen" will never feel the same to me -- see photo below!)
