I didn't know when I wrote this two years ago that tension, grief, defiance and fear would be so palpable again in Paris. My book is sadly more relevant than ever as the parallels between past and present become more obvious behind surface differences (fascism is fascism is fascism). I really, really hope that the atrocities committed by Islamo-fascists won't encourage French people to vote for the extreme right and that the National Front won't be victorious at the regional elections this weekend and the next.
I do believe that our only hope is in the unity of all people of good will, whatever their religion, culture or race, against hatred, obscurantism and death.
